		<description>I read the story about the death of a Father and Son in a 185 Amphib. the other day and can't seem to get it off my mind. I wonder if I came across this website for some unexplainable reason or sheer coincidence? It has so much in common with my life I must really ask myself some serious questions about the direction I'm going. I have decided to start a towing company, in fact I have my WSP inspection in just a few hours. Nothing strange about that I guess, but it gets more complicated from here. I live in Spokane but grew up in Puyallup and have flown into Auburn many times and the many lakes around the Puget Sound with My Father also. Most of the time it was in a Cessna 185(N4661C) on Amphibious floats, Edo Flying Dolphins which alone would put the 185 near gross. My father who is a retired 747 Pilot and  an  I  A , installed a larger engine also. I can't say it was even close to 400 hp which is a huge jump from the 285 HP the 185 had originally, or I guess 300 HP for 5 min., whichever. He went with the Turbo for the high elevation lakes that without would require numerous runs up and down lakes, trying to get off the water. several different methods would be tried, from pulling on full flaps for a second in a attempt to jerk it out of the water, it just would not do it sometimes. The method that worked best was to get it up on one float, then the speed would increase enough for it to fly, then when you got away from the cool water and over the warmer trees you had to watch so you didn't end up in them. If the engine would not have been running perfect every time I might not be telling any stories. I'm getting off course here. On the same day the 185 crashed killing  Mark and Brian My father signed a will that gave my Brother and myself the 185. i don't know, it just really hits home, so sorry about your loss.</description>
